Research Summary

I am working to understand the dispersal mechanism of Candida albicans. I am using microfluidic devices to visualize biofilm formation and dispersion. I am then studying the dispersed cells to understand their behavior and mechanics for continued biofilm growth. I am also creating a toolkit to have the ability to change the gene expression of a gene of interest spatially and temporally. I will use this visualize the change in virulence and adherence of a dispersed cell off of a biofilm with perturbed gene expression.
